Michael Paul is the eighth of 9 siblings. As a baby boomer, he was exposed to the music of the sixties and was inspired by the left-handed bass player in “the world’s most famous band” (aka The Beatles). Not being able to acquire a left-handed guitar, Michael Paul was drawn into building his own musical instruments, and subsequently wangled his way into a music education. However, he spent the best part of his working life doing woodworking, hoping to actually succeed at building instruments someday.
Michael Paul took up cello in the sixties but felt compelled to stay 6 feet away from other cellists, even when there was no pandemic. Michael Paul joined his wife, Ann in the orchestra in 2014. He started out playing the mandocello, but when Ann got a new cello, he converted her old one to left handed and has been trying to catch up with her ever since. Michael Paul and Ann’s optimism and creative ideas make them both valuable assets to A Measure for Nothing.
